IGNOU DElEd Admission 2026-27: IGNOU offers the Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) through Distance learning for untrained (in-service teachers). A DElEd from IGNOU can last up to 4 years, with a minimum of 2 years. Students must have completed their 12th-grade education from an accredited board with at least 50% of the possible minimum score to be eligible for this program. IGNOU DElEd Admission Eligibility Criteria

Students who want to take Admission in the IGNOU DElEd Program must complete their 10+2 with at least 50% from a recognised board. IGNOU DElEd Study Material

Study Material is provided to students who enrol in any course at IGNOU. Students can learn from both Online and offline. Students can learn online from the Egyankosh website. IGNOU DElEd Study Material are prepared by the experienced Faculty and educational experts. By logging into the students’ portals, there are more resources, such as recorded classes and podcasts. In offline mode, students have access to the Course-related books through your study centre, and IGNOU has sent the study material to students registered at their addresses via speed post.

IGNOU DElEd Examination Pattern

Students must complete both theory and practical work to develop their skills and understand the educational concepts. The grading system is divided into two sections: Internal assessment and term-end examinationThe breakout exam marks are: the assignment and the practical exam for this course. Assignments account for 30% of the marks, and the term-end examination (written exam) accounts for 70%. After combining these two sections, students will get an evaluation. Students need at least a 35% passing mark in both practical and theory to clear the passing eligibility criteria. Students can practice the IGNOU Previous Question paper for better preparation and also check the weaker sections for further study. The IGNOU previous year papers are available on the website.

IGNOU DElEd Assignment

Students must submit the assignment for IGNOU D.El.Ed before the June Term-End Examination, without submission of the assignments, students will not be able to download the admit card. Students who appear in June TEE must submit their IGNOU DEIEd assignment before the end date, which is 31 May 2026. The assignment accounts for 30% of the final exam. If students do not submit the assignment, University do not issue the hall ticket. Handwritten assignments are uploaded according to the IGNOU guidelines.

IGNOU DElEd Re-registration 2026-27 

Re-registration of the IGNOU DElEd program is for those candidates who are already enrolled in the program and can continue their education for the next academic semester or year. IGNOU DElEd Course Re-registration has started for the July session 2026. Students need to re-register themself for next semester. The End date of Re-registration is 30 June 2026.

Job Opportunities 

IGNOU does not offer a campus placement for the teaching diploma. After completing the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) from IGNOU, you can work as a primary teacher in a government or private school.  Students can also pursue further studies, such as the Bachelor of Education (BEd), to enhance their knowledge and skills as a teacher.


NOTE: IGNOU does not offer the D.El.Ed program from 2019. This program was discontinued in 2019 due to the strict UGC guidelines. Those who are seeking the D.El.Ed program must go through the other courses IGNOU is offering.
